Mello Creme Line Receives American Culinary ChefsBest Award
 
#FRANKFORT, IN—1/21/05—The results are in and the nation’s Best Tasting Candy Corn and Mello Creme Novelties are Zachary Confections, according to a blind taste test conducted by the American Culinary ChefsBest (ACC). Zachary received the prestigious 2005 ChefsBest Award from the ACC, beating out major national competitors in its respective category.

ACC evaluates thousands of food products every year; only one winner is chosen in a comparable set of competing products. To receive the ChefsBest Award for the best tasting Candy Corn and Mello-Creme Novelties, Zachary had to receive the highest quality score, while meeting specific taste quality standards. In determining Zachary as the winner, the panel considered attributes such as color, sweetness, flavor complexity and texture.

Zachary Confections introduced their Candy Corn in 2002, but it was not an overnight decision. “We spent 2 years researching and developing the process and ingredients,” says George Anichini, Senior Vice President ,“and what we came up with is a state-of-the-art kitchen and depositing system to manufacture this product.” After the success of Candy Corn, other Mello Creme products were introduced. These products are carefully monitored at every stage, from the time they are deposited until they are packaged and leave the factory. George adds, “We make every effort to ensure an overall great piece of candy. This award supports our commitment to bring the best tasting, highest quality products to our consumers.”

Kitchen Manager John Krasowski adds, “The texture is smooth and velvety, which is a direct result of selecting and using only premium ingredients. Our depositing system, along with exacting attention to detail allows our Candy Corn to achieve uniform size and color.”
